Mindfulness-Based Skills for Lovers
Mindfulness-Based Skills for Lovers (MBSL) is an 8-week skills building program developed by R. Brian Denton, Psy.D., Ph.D. as a way to help partners enhance their level of intimate connection through building the skills of mindful awareness.
Based on the eastern wisdom practice of Mindfulness and informed by research supported intervention strategies such as MBSR, MBCT, MBRE, ACT, and classical Sex Therapy techniques, MBSL adaptations and exercises for partners will help to draw greater awareness into each individual’s contribution to their relationship and give space for greater connection in intimate interactions.
MBSL is a group program in which partner participants gather to learn intimacy skills and mindfulness exercises designed to increase nonjudgmental, moment-to-moment awareness of bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions. Participants use mindfulness to cultivate a new way of relating to internal and situational experiences using curiosity, acceptance, and compassion, and how to apply those skills to further their intimate communications and sexual interactions.
